Dear Friends,
It’s been thirty-two years since I first offered educational
programs and materials to beekeepers. My first public sales
were at the ABF meeting in Philadelphia, Penna. in 1976,
celebrating the bicentennial.
Now operating as Wicwas Press, I’ve got a respectable
collection of beekeeping titles, with plans to add many more
this year and beyond. You can keep an eye on my writing (and
speaking schedule) in
Bee Culture Magazine and The American Bee
Journal.
After two years of working on the project I am pleased to
announce that my new book, Bee Sex Essentials, has
been printed. This 152 page book features dozens of full
color photos—all of them new. One fantastic addition is a
series of dissection photos of drones and queens done under
the supervision of Dr. Anita Collins at USDA in Beltsville
(Dr. Collins is now retired). One of the photos shows the
effects of queen banking on the reproduction structures of
the queen honey bee.
Please subscribe to ebeebooks, my online newsletter if you
want to know about new books, educational programs and where
I plan to participate in a program.
Sales of these new books have been very encouraging. I have
had beekeepers read Increase Essentials, make up summer
increase, and had most of them get through the winter in
great shape. If your success was not that good, please try
again! We need to be less reliant on distant sources of bees
and bee genetics!
In 2008 I am conducting a number of queen rearing and bee
breeding programs from Massachusetts to Texas. Please sign
up for ebeebooks if you want additional details. There will
be three programs in Michigan alone. These are unique
opportunities to learn about bee breeding and producing your
own strain of honey bees.
I have been working with My webmaster to establish an
on-line store for books and photos. We had to adjust prices
to include domestic postage. This is not a price increase
for any title. If multiple payments allow, I will ship
Priority Mail instead of Media rate. Keep in mind I will
always give you an exact cost for shipping when paying by
check, Visa or MasterCard. Please email me for a quotation
at LJConnor@aol.com.
In addition, I inventory books by other publishers, and when
in doubt, email me to check the availability of a title. The
Internet gives me access to hundreds of millions of titles
of books, plus I have 30 years of contacts I rely upon.
These are not all internet listed titles.
